Has anyone attempted to repair or replace the waste valve/gate from a 1970 Shasta grey water tank?
Willing to bet that this part is obsolete.
Thanks for any help.

As far as I know they haven't changed and are available at any RV parts dealer. Just changed one in a 1968 Prowler and they had them in stock. I also changed one in my 1957 Kenskill and they had all the parts, fittings, etc. in stock. I purchase parts from two dealers in Tucson who have been in business since the 60's. You can also shop on line for valves or valve parts. I have found some bargains on e-bay for sewer type fittings and rebuild kits.

You mean this one? I can't for the life of me remember the manufacturer name on it, But I did google the hell outta it and found nothing. It had a twist lock to it. I do know that is was installed in ABS pipe and that is still accessible today. The Valterra valves are much the same blade-valve, only are lighter-looking. They are also made with a bayonet end with the nubs for connecting a tank hose to also. I'll try to find some of them for examples.

White are Thetford, no longer installed in new rigs. These days, every US trailer has Valterra (black) waste valves.

Thanks for the responses and posting the picture of the waste valve, Ten. However, after doing a bit more research on this valve, I did locate repair and replacement parts. DUPREE PRODUCTSThe original manual valve, known as the Owens Valve. Owens Products began production in 1964. It features a 6 lug Twis-Loc termination. Going to order a replacement Manual Valve Assembly today and I'll let ya know if all goes well with the repair.

How did the valve itself attach to the bottom of the tank? Im replacing one on black water tank on 63 Shasta. Hard to get under to get a good look. My back water tank is fibreglass and seems to be in good shape. I assumed there would be some sort of flange to bolt into.

My setup, the gate valve was attached to a Twis-Loc locking ring, that Dupree Products sells. I got my system all repaired, but haven't tested it, yet. Here is a link to my repair pictures of our original Owens Valve: Repairing my Owens Valve
