It was suggested that I post what I am looking for here to have more success since I am having a tough time locating anything within 200 miles of 92868.
We have a growing family and need bunk space and a bathroom, shower, no shower...I am indifferent. I have a 5 thousand dollar budget with maybe a little more to renovate after purchasing.
We need something clean-no diy alterations, hopefully no missing components either. Must have title and be ready to tow away We want three bunk spaces and one that is at least a full size bed, It should have original appliances that work, but aftermarket ac is fine, original that works is better. I need a closet and good storage space under 4500lbs tow weight No massive repairs needed unless it's dirt cheap and totally awesome Unpainted on the interior I need a fridge, no icebox Under 24' long Solid floor and walls, I can't renovate on my own on that level, no time or space...small repairs I can do on a weekend are ok. No smoker owned trailers
Was seeing some nice lay outs in 70s trailers from 17-22' that I would paint the interiors of on my own, they had a rear door and bathroom fridge and kitchen on the far wall, wrap around dinet opposite kitchen and forward couch/pullout bed, under drop down bunk. I can see refurbishing something like that to be modern and comfortable within my budget.
We really love spartanettes and boles aeros from the late forties and early fifties canned ham style though they are lacking extra bunk space, I can add a pull out couch in front and a bunk in back. I doubt I'll get that lucky in my budget though.
We want the exterior to be in good shape too, no major dents etc. We will hopefully be able to paint the outside within our budget.
I think that's it, I hope we can find, see and buy something soon to get it ready for camping soon Thanks for any help or leads.

Check your local Craigslist for RVs, max price 6500. There are a lot of nice older Class C motor homes out and about. I know it's not what you're looking for, but you never know. Also, there were a couple of smaller trailers in the 90s and 2000s that might suit.
Another thought is posting a wanted on Craigs. Be careful with that tho, might be a magnet to the scammers...
I highly doubt there will be an older "sound" trailer in your price range. Most of them have pretty bad rot, sometimes hidden. I really think Bruce's idea of the senior centers is very good!
Good luck, we're all here for you.

I'm now worried about mdf. When did they start using mdf in trailer construction? I'm sure it's different with each manufacturer, but we're there any companies not using it in the 70s? I really don't like anything made with that junk, can it be avoided in 70s trailers?

Manufacturers started using MDF in 1970.

With any luck, I'm buying a 69 terry tomorrow, I think it has mdf, does anyone know? The counters are old style inch thick plywood with a white Formica top and the silver trim around it looks like, but it has that beige faux wood look on the paneling and cabinets, could it be over plywood?

A 69 probably has plywood panels with vinyl overlay; it looks like real wood. Not bad if it isn't peeling...
Be sure EVERYTHING works and ask the seller to prove it.
Good luck!

Oh joy, i hope it is plywood, i'm a fan of plywood. All electrical works and plumbing...propane couldn't be tested without tanks. Running lights work etc... I think it would be really shocking if the stove didn't work once hooked up to propane. Those stoves are impossible to break. Nothing is peeling in this thing, it's a time capsule! I am spending all morning tomorrow getting the trailer paid for and picked up and then serviced. I plan on painting it soon and ordering an awning, doing silly small things that beautify it and then spending a ton of time in it. I'm in the pre excited stage because it's not a done deal yet, but my hopes are high. As soon as we get it I will post pictures.

If it is the one from AZ, looks like a good buy to me.

I did it! I bought a trailer sight unseen...I know I'll probably find some issues, but I can handle that for the price I paid. It's at the repair shop awaiting bearings, tires and a brake system checkup.
My morning was insane, I can't believe I survived and everything worked out, thank God for cell phones and the generosity of strangers! Oh yeah, and curse Dodge for making horrible cars! The things we are willing to do for a good trailer!
Yes, it was the Phoenix 69 terry for sale. Wasn't that interior clean and amazingly original with great colors and materials!!?? It has the optional a.c. that still works, I'll probably get it recharged before we hit southern Utah the next time we go...
My dad already committed to painting if we prep and mask it off. I have some design work to do on the trailer!
I am just tickled with my new rig! Thanks for all the info, i am smiling about plywood construction right now....It's ridiculous.
I am sending the PO a bouquet of flowers right now. She went out of her way to make this happen!

I'm a happy camper, I like it when people cooperate and are honest. It's rare in this day and age, but old camper trailers seem to attract some good people. I really like the guy I sold my Shasta to, he's a gem!
