We have three light fixtures in our trailer that have those two prong electrical sockets. Since we’ve converted the lighting to 12V I’m thinking about converting these electrical sockets to 5V USB. Has anyone else made this conversion and has a picture to share? I’m thinking one of these USB sockets will fit into the old two prong socket opening and the 12 V to 5V converter should fit within the shade. This should work for at least two of our light fixtures, those that have room to spare in the shade area. Like these ones:

No, I haven't but I'm very interested in seeing how you do this and hearing how it turns out.

We converted our original light fixtures to 12V. But, what to do about the original 110V two prong electrical sockets on the fixtures? We decided to convert them to USB sockets using these steps. Step 1: Ordered a 12V to 5V USB adaptor from Amazon. Step 2: Used a Dremel tool to drill out the center section of the two prong bakelite fitting. Step 3: Epoxy the bakelite fitting into the light fixture. Step 4: Strip the casing from the USB receptacle. Before and after shown below. Step 5: Insert USB into the bakelite fitting and use epoxy to attach the USB firmly to the fitting. Custom!

Hey, I had this bookmarked for future reference and now the images are gone... Do you want to share the images again?
Thanks-

Strange1, you might PM MountainSounds to ask. I think I have her email somewhere. Will check.
