I am outta here with my trailer sale posts, they have a home now and I thank everybody for helping me get there!
I was having a loverly Vintage Trailer Talk with my trailer-owning neighbor, and our discussion took a turn which I am going to share here - just in case he and I might not be the only ones with these issues...
Confession : I am unable to mentally comprehend how or physically manage to back my trailer if there is anyone observing my efforts! However, I amaze myself sometimes when I maneuver my vehicles and trailers around in private - I am sure some of the things I have accomplished (planned as well as accidental) defy all logical rules of physics and space...
Phobia : Electricity! Hate it, but I love it so much! It's such a handy thing to have around, but it is temperamental and intolerant and has put me in my place more than once when I have attempted to stretch "the rules". I long for the day when I am able to afford to have someone do it the RIGHT way, but for now I am on my own for repairs and additions. Hate it!
Phobia: Bears! Some people never see them, but where I camp, I am in THEIR territory. It's serious business some places - Steel bear-proof lockers in the mountains to store your food while you sleep, bear spray if you don't carry a weapon, warnings to not smell like food or toothpaste or scents while you sleep. I have gone to bed in a tent thinking my dear brother in the other tent was once again teasing us girls with his low growls and shuffling around, only to find large claw scratches the next morning on the sides of my tent. I will never forget the incredulous and horrified look on my father's face as my sisters and I in our youth proudly told him how we were explorers and found a cool cave with baby bear paw prints. He explained to us (through gritted teeth and a strange level of mounting hysteria) that baby bears always have protective mothers and we must never, ever, EVER walk into caves, especially ones with animal tracks...
Phobia: I worry, worry about the trailer hitch coming undone while in transit. I am a safety girl, I use the best equipment I can afford and I do everything by the book and have never had an incident. But I worry about it with every jolt and every sound coming from the trailer. I need to resist reading posts telling of the horrible things that happen when your vehicle and trailer are no longer One. I check everything on my hitch every single time I stop.
Thank you for being my therapy couch, it was good to get it all off my chest, but really I don't think I feel any better about any of it...
