This is off topic but that rotten piece of skirt wood (with the big knot in it) might be turned into a cool clock holder if you can remove the knot. I've also used things like that, with the knot removed, on the front of birdhouses. Looking forward to watching your progress on this cute trailer!

Thanks Kathleenc! I didn't think of that!
I've been at it since 8 but thought I should put up my "Plan of the Day" and then post pics tonight of how much/little I actually accomplished!
1. Remove ports on left side 2. Take off fender 3. Drip rail off of the front 4. Lift side skin, prop up and reassess.

How's that for a j-rail bend? She's breaking up Cap'tn. Removing the Uni-brow. All the wood inside fell out when we lifted it off. Prodigious amounts of wasp nests inside. Rotted uni-brow She's nekkid! Door came out very easy! I see mahogany door skin in front and back, not sure what that is in the center section.

A couple theories about the center section...
First, if it is hidden wall behind a cabinet, wardrobe, kitchenette, or the like, then it is not visible in the overall interior floor plan. It may well have been a lot cheaper in the original build than the mahogany was...you may actually find it to be a thicker plywood than the rest of the wall board, adding extra strength to that part of the wall in the center, over the axle. The reason you do not find cross members is that the structure of the walls got their overall strength from the combination of layers, all the layers...interior, frame, and aluminum skin, all working together. There is no need for crossmembers to hold the structure up and thus, lighter weight in the overall frame.

Ten!
Yep. The lighter section of wood is a closet on the other side.
Ah, the layers, now I get it. Thanks!
The tops and bottoms of the mahogany door skins are shredded, but I would love to try and re-use the middles to re-face the cabinets if possible. Would it be weird if the kitchen cabinets didn't match the walls?

IMO, not at all. Matching everything is a factory trick, but having mismatched colored to your liking is a great way to personalize. I am not that great at woodworking or finishing. However, I have seen some schemes done with different facing on the cabinet doors, giving a contrast in colors, achieved without PAINT!! This can give the interior quite a bright feel, as well as unique.

Tell your Husband to bend over and tie his shoes... You atta be able to store and window frame or two up there! Or is it in there? That's really to bad and I hate it for you. That's the only one like that I've seen and I have seen more than a few. But good luck on all of you endeavors "Platinum Orange". Pehaps you'll come across another one.

That is unfortunate, it was a very unique trailer that IMHO would have been well worth restoring. If you have the room, hang on to the fixtures until you know if there is another trailer in your future. They may be needed. If not, there are lots of people out there with incomplete trailers needing parts.

I hope you don't run into that little old lady who sold it to you...she would be terribly disappointed.

Sadly, this lovely Turnpike is no more. Parts available in a while... I'm locking this thread. Beautiful Trailer.
RIP
