I am not into solar panels but yes, if wired correctly, the 7 way plug can easily charge the battery. Here is a picture of my "charger": Plug the trailer into the receptacle, and the battery is happy... same thing goes with a solar panel. I would suggest a charge controller when using a solar panel.

Zamp solar set ups have an adapter (quick connect to swap) that allows you to install a plug in the side of your trailer and instead of plugging into the battery with alligator clips you plug into the outlet.
Vikx, I like that charger. That's really cool.

I've got the controller built in to the 12v system, so charging from any source will be 'managed'.
I suppose I can just find a 'male' 7 way RV connector and cut the MC4 off of the solar panel lead and wire that to the 7 way appropriately. Connect the 7 way male to the trailer's 7 way female… and I'll be charging from the panel.

Chances are that the harness wiring is so small that by the time the power gets to the front of the truck it's not going to do much for you.
