Hello Group, I just purchased my very first trailer and its a vintage one.... and according to its Title and its previous owner its a 77 Shasta "model" unknown... It is what I think to be Starflyte as far as its size and configuration, big puzzle however it has tandem wheels. Its supposedly an 18ft not including tongue. What is really throwing me off is that its configured exactly like the 1977 Starflyte 17ft Shasta, with the exception of the tandem wheels. It is definitely not long enough to be the StratoFlye or the Deluxe Tandem. Has anyone ever seen a Tandem wheel 17FT Starflyte from 1977 ( maybe they have the birth year wrong on this baby? ) Any advice or help is most definitely appreciated! trying to post a photo.. forget how to html these things..lol Thanks so much Clarice

Clarice, you have to link your photos from another site like Photobucket or Flicker.

Welcome to VTT!!
As for your Shasta, starting in the mid 1970's, tandem axles and plastic fenders were being used , as well as, the pattern of the aluminum siding changed. Numbers were being used for the Model names. For example, if yours is 18' long, good possibility it is a Shasta 1850.
Pictures will defiantly help with determining what Model you have. If you can locate the VIN# on the tongue or if you have it on your title, I can hopefully tell you what year and where your Shasta was born.

Seems to me that on the old VSTF someone picked up a tandem canned ham shaped Shasta for free up in Canada. Did not fit with the year or shape. I would guess if a buyer was ordering a new Shasta in the 1977 era, that if s/he requested tandem axles for a usually single axle 17 to 18 foot model the dealer who placed the order could "make it happen", especially since Coachman Industries bought the Shasta brand in 1976 and were capable of producing modified versions of all their makes, models and brands. Just a thought. Does yours look like this? www.louisianasportsman.com/lpca/index.php?section=classifieds&event=view&action=single_ad&id=2066&sid=57a67564df2b52b0ab539e16388c0c43

Trailer length is determined by the length of the frame from tongue hitch to bumper if there is one. If not to the rear end of the trailer.

Thank you for the photo upload help.. my avatar is now my Camper. VintageBruce, yes it does look a bit like the one you posted the link too.. its configured differently inside though. I'm pretty sure its been repainted on the outside too because I have not seen any others that have a "green" stripe. Just brought it home today so I will now have an opportunity to write down VIN numbers, and do some more research.. Also the 'wheel" well covers are aftermarket that the previous owner bolted on.. they are about to come Off now..
Thanks for the help everyone!
