1979 Bonaire. Removed Powertron. Very seldom go to campgrounds. Running light circuit works fine coupled to van. Separate 12V circuit run off battery on trailer tongue for ceiling lamps, furnace, fridge, works fine. 110V circuit ( 2 outlets inside, one outside) run off extension to campground power works fine. BUT: when I hook up 110V circuit to 1000W inverter run off battery on trailer tongue, inverter shows 'fault'. Anything plugged DIRECTLY into inverter works AOK. Could there be a conflicting ground circuit ? Thanks.

I'm not knowledgeable on inverters, but the 110 system should be grounded cleanly to the frame, as should the 12 volt system. (separate ground wires)
I would do research on your brand of inverter. Please post any resolution.

Did the inverter work when you separated it from the camper system completely? I have an inverter and it doesn't need grounded but if there is a short or something on the camper is not grounding properly it won't work.
My guess is the problem is in the separate line to the outlets from the inverter. In an ideal set-up, I would isolate the inverter power to the inside outlets and if they work then the outside. This may help you narrow where the issue is in the system.

Thank you both for your suggestions. Yes, the inverter will power anything that is plugged directly into it. I will go around the problem by running an ordinary extension from the inverter at the rear of the van right into the camper to power whatever I may need to use, especially to recharge the Portable PC. The inverter runs off the battery on the trailer tongue, not off the van's motor battery. I paid to learn.....
I have checked grounding for 12V battery-on-tongue system for lighting etc. and 110V system coming from exterior source such as house or campground, and they have good contacts.
If I find anything else, I will certainly post update.
Thanks again for your time.

If I remember right, I clicked on ''reply'' but it shows ''create post'' at bottom. If I goofed, please, Mr Moderator, re-direct and tell me what I did wrong.

While building out the Traveleze I had an errant screw that shorted between neutral and ground on the 110 side. Everything worked fine while I was plugged in at home. However when I plugged into a GFCI receptacle at our first campground it tripped immediately. You may want to check for a similar short in the 110v system on your trailer.
