What are the pros and cons to replacing the windows with plexi? A few of my front windows were replaced at some point with plexi, which would keep them from getting broken by errant rocks, so I'm inclined to replace them with plexi. But is there a reason why I shouldn't? Or would tempered glass be an even better option? How much more expensive is tempered?

tempered glass I think would be best, plexi will scratch easily and certain cleaners will melt or stain it. it will not look quite the same, I can always spot plexiglass in the cars at the drag races.

Whatever you can live with.. Scratch resistant Lexan cost more than glass but is tough and stays "purty". I'm not a purist where windows are concerned. What difference does it make? In the end, glass or plastic can be changed out...

Hopefully this would never occur , but in the event of and emergency that you can't get to the door plexi will be almost impossible to break.
One other con to plexi. Bird poop will etch it.

We want to replace the side front windows as they are currently one whole piece not louvered and not tempered. The quote I recieved to have two pieces of tempered glass cut is $161. I have sticker shock. Still not sure what we will end up doing quite yet.

I put it in myself and it was very easy. The side windows are not as easy to replace but that seems like a lot. Does that include install?

Nope, no curved cuts although it is at an approx. 5% degree slant angle.
No that quote was just for the glass, no installation.
