I am about to buy a router, for doing my project, plus I have wanted one for years. It seems there are different kinds, there are plunge routers and regular ones. I will be mainly rounding the edge of cabinet doors, route ring out hinges where necessary, and cutting out my window openings. What do I need? In Canada we have Milwakee, and Dewalt, and Makita. I am looking at a Dewalt combo router kit... Is this overkill, or will it help me be accurate? If you have one you recommend, I am all ears... Here is the link to the Dewalt... Dewalt Router

I have the Dewalt laminate router. (as linked) It is great for light jobs and is easy to handle. The 1/4 inch collett will limit the bit size, but it is a very versatile router.
If you want to do heavy wood edging, a larger router might be better.
Others will chime in, I'm sure.

Make sure the one you choose is easy for you to handle. You don't want one that feels heavy and clumsy to you. Many times you are better off with a smaller router and going a little slower while you are learning. Routers are a great tool but they can cause a lot of scrap if not properly operated. What ever you choose spend enough time practicing on scrap to feel comfortable using it. Also different kinds of wood requires different methods of operation.
