So, I'm three glasses of wine into the night (one beyond my self-imposed limit) so forgive me for not doing a thorough search to find this particular subject....
I partially removed my front skin this evening just before nightfall (otherwise I'd have taken a photo) and it appears that the wall-to-wall framing, not JUST below the dinette window, but the framing below that, is topped by a 1" wide piece of metal? I don't remember reading or seeing anything about that before. Is that typical for the Shastas? I was definitely pleasantly surprised to see that, and the lack of deterioration around the front window area. Of course the lower boards show significantly more rot/damage.

Yes. It belongs there. It was installed on top of one of the frame boards as I recall. If you notice, the frame is behind the wall directly where the table mount should be. It gives the wall more strength for the added stress of the table. Look very closely and you can see it here....especially now that you know where you're looking for it.

yep, that's exactly where mine is. Thanks Ten. Like I said, I hadn't ever remembered reading about or seeing that in any other threads, so I was a little shocked when I spotted it last night.

It looks like I've got those in some of my framing members too. Is it about 1/8 x 1" with holes for screws to secure it? One is alongside the door frame by the cab over, one on each side of my ac installed in the roof.
Actually if I didnt have them, a hired RV repairman would have broken those too when he walked on the roof. This was after I asked him if he wanted plywood to walk on and he said he didn't need it.
I am referring to my dutch craft conowingo and not a Shasta.
