I catch myself looking forward to opening the section titled The Hunt...every day, now that we are beginning to post some CL type ads there that can elicit some casual comments. But I also realize that if too many trolls/lookyloos who pop into vintage trailer sites only to use them as a search site and glean the results of Members searches for campers that may interest the Forum's Members, they/we are somewhat defeating the plan we have to restrict viewing of our For Sale thread to those who have taken the time to register and become Members. Darn it, I want it both ways.

I think you have to have 50 posts as a member to even view the For Sale section now. I may be wrong... ask vikx.

I think the 50 post rule makes sense.

Yes I also agree with the 50 post rule, in the For Sale section...what I am getting at is we are creating a secondary For Sale section within The Hunt...lots of searching is done to produce an interesting thread regarding a currently for sale camper, and anyone can view The Hunt. The trolls are not viewing to participate in the thread, they are counting on a Member's feeling that the camper is worth considering and they are off on a snipe hunt.

I'm OK with chatting about trailers available in the HUNT. The reason the for sale sections are limited to Jr. members (50 posts) is to keep newbies from joining just to advertise. This IS the 'net after all... We don't know who might be here for bad purposes. The viewing limit is to keep irate sellers from retaliating on our board. (floppers... )
You all might remember the lady with the long trailer who we suspected someone had stolen her photos. It was mentioned the price was a little LOW and could be a scam? Instead, she blamed us for calling her a "scammer" and more. Sigh.
There is very little Admin can do to control sales. It's all about trust between members. Yes, we can ban for infractions, but it would be a little late if a member gets cheated. So, we watch like hawks and PM when necessary...
ANYONE trying to advertise before they reach Jr. member will have those posts/threads deleted. Admin and mods read every thread. Please help us keep an eye out.
Comments welcome. It is easy to change the rules for our benefit. V

From what I understand about comments on the internet or anywhere else from a legal standpoint is, if you begin your comment with "I believe" or "it appears to me" you are indicating that your comment is a personal belief...and as I type this, I believe it is still the right of every Citizen to hold and express personal beliefs without crossing into slander or defamation...no telling how much longer that might be the case. I try to sprinkle, I believe, it appears to me and even this is only one person's opinion amongst my comments.

I believe we need to watch the Hunt section closely. Posting pics and discussing them would be fine but links to Craigslist, eBay, etc. should be avoided. I believe it should be about discussing the a "find" or "in search of" and I realize that some people do post links to their finds. And they could have them snatched away before they even have a chance. I have thought about this in the past, crossed my mind and then slipped on by. Thanks, Bruce, for bringing this up. I will try to replace links with pics as I see them. I'm spread a little thin at the present. About time to hitch up and leave it all behind
