I used this exact material when I made mine last year. See pic below. Works very well, cheap and holds up to all sorts of weather. I just used metal conduit, bungee balls and grommets to attach mine. It came with a fancy scallop end piece that I do use now, in the pic I left it off. Completely recommend this product. I got mine on ebay, 10 x 16 size believe and the price was very reasonable.

ladywendolyn , you are the seamstress on the board right? I had thought about making an awning out of this plastic coated material, really only because of the price. Its like a rain coat type of material, do you know how that would hold up to the elements? Here is a link to the fabric I was concidering www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30304383/Still also considering the other options on this thread too The fabric from Ikea is ok. I know a lady who did a red polkadot one. The only thing is that it is not very UV friendly, so it can fade quickly. The red awning that we have been talking about in this thread is also available in black and white stripe, so it may be a better value, but the ikea fabric will work too.I would add silicone spray to any seams if you need to join them for width, that would help to make it water proof. As much as I love the price of these awnings, I have decided to make my own. I love the vintage look sunbrella fabrics, so I am going to bite the bullet and buy enough to do an awing, and screen house type curtains for the awning, that will give it a gazebo look and keep the sun out as needed. Even at the wholesale price I get, I have to save quite a bit of money to do this project. This is my current favourite pattern, as it evokes the feel of a 1950's lake house. My tailer is going to be all red with a cream stripe, so I am going with contrast... SaveSave

I wanted to add to this thread with the awning I purchased through Amazon that LadyW posted. Thank you so much for that post LadyW. We love our awning. It is a great material and the water just rolls off of it and it packs up very nicely. I spent around $50 on it. What a deal.
Here is a pic. I raised the middle pole that morning due to a major rainstorm we got earlier that morning. This thing is the bomb.
Fantastic setup you guys have. Love the awning....really love the aluminum chairs, especially the yellow double fold. Nice work all around.

Resurrecting an old thread. what do you folks use for the welting that goes in the c channel? Marti seems to use plastic, but I thought they used rope originally.

Anyone who has bought the ALEKO awnings...is the 8 foot deep awning acceptable? Our rail is 10 foot wide and we're not really up to cutting and sewing a 12x10 into a 10x10.

Thanks Mel. We sat out in the driveway with chairs and a tape measure and think 10x8 makes the most sense for our smaller camper.

Anyone that used this awning have advice for installing grommets and adding guy ropes? It's good enough for our needs but I'm worried the fabric is not thick enough to hold the grommet under tension... Reinforce with?
