So I picked up a 1964 Shasta Compact (for FREE!) 'cause a branch poked a big hole in the roof and it sat like that for a year.
I slapped a metal patch over the hole, slathered on a bunch of black roof patch--then proceeded to rebuild the entire interior, which took the better part of a year.
I love the thing, and we've already had it out camping twice. But now I'm thinking about a better solution for that hole in the roof, as I don't want an eventual leak to ruin all that beautiful new birch. And if I'm going to throw a new skin around the roof, well, let's just paint the thing.
So here's the question: I want to reskin the top, and put a two-tone paint job on the rest. And I don't want to do it myself. I live in Southeast Pennsylvania. I've gone to three body shops who told me they'd love to do it, but they really only do insurance work on cars.
Anyone know of any options for someone in my area who would take this on?

An RV shop but will be expensive. You might find an independent truck repair shop as in one that builds and repairs truck bodies that might do it, but make sure they know what they are doing on a trailer. I would continue to ask around till I found someone qualified.

If who ever you hire has not done this exact type of roof before you will be wasting your money and ruining the trailer. Even the Shasta Company could not do a vintage roof properly on their line of replicas that just came out. I have videos showing how to do this step by step so have who ever you hire contact me or just go to my website and make them watch the 57 Westerner Roof Replacement videos. They are free to watch. Actually you could do it yourself by watching my vids. Many others have with great success. Even women...

Thanks, mobiltec. I stumbled on your videos last year while remodeling the interior--they were a massive help.
I'm fairly confident I could do it on my own, but I've moved on to some other jobs around the house, and this is something I think I'd rather invest in having someone else do so it doesn't become a four month project. But you're absolutely right, I'd like to find someone who has done this before.

Not sure if you have "free" advertisers like Penny Pincher (our local pulp advertiser weekly). Anyway in every one I have seen here on the coast or other places, there is always a couple of ads for RV repairs, "we come to you". Our locals are retired RV repair people doing odd job (probably off the books) repairs. Perhaps you could look in your local "Pincher" and if there are ads, contact the advertiser to ask that they come take a look at the job you want done. Indicate mobiltec's video series and ask for references if s/he indicate an interest in bidding on the job.

I think he might have meant to say, "ESPECIALLY Women"...... When men tell me they are afraid of doing the new metal skin I point them to my female viewers blogs who have already done it successfully... Next thing you know they are ripping metal off and calling Steve Loomis. LOL..

And we're even women, so I can vouch for that statement! Lol.
