Okay, this has all sorts of design issues. But we're going away tomorrow and they are forecasting 90 degrees in the mountians... in May. Eventually I plan to overhaul this camper and put in a portable unit that will vent out the old roof vent. Forgive me for this Red Neck contraption, but it works. In about two hours I pulled this together with an a/c we had in the shed, three flanges left over from a plumbing job, dryer ducts and junk I had laying around. Here are the problems: The air does not recirculate, so it is running full blast while on. The campground electric bill may be ugly. A member did something like this last year and ran the return through a separate duct. Not something I can do quickly but it would solve the "return" issue. The camper gets down to 50 degrees if I let it run. Bring a comforter for the bed or run the cord in a way you can turn it off easily. And I need to shield it with a small tent-like cover if it rains. Total cost if you had the a/c and bought everything else? Around $30 at Home Depot. Laugh if you want, two months from now in the heat of the summer you'll be revisiting this thread.

It has to be the perfect solution. You used Red Neck in your post!! When you live in the South and a heatwave is coming the day before you leave, you grasp at any solution. If I leave it on high for an hour the camper would turn into a snow globe. It made me laugh while I was testing it so I thought I'd share it. When I get back I'm shopping for a portable unit I can install in the closet.
