Hello Everyone!

Last week I bought this '67 Shasta Starflyte.

While she seems to be in decent shape, I have a long road ahead of me. I am totally new to this!

I am looking to restore my Shasta, and keep her as original as possible. I'm looking for any suggestions any of you may have, as I do not know where to start.

I know that there is water damage, and that I'm going to have to replace some of the walls. However, I want to keep it as original as possible.

I will probably never use the bathroom, nor the sink. I may never actually travel with my trailer, either. I bought it more for a hang out and place of relaxation. (We just purchased a '11 Coachman Catalina for travel).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

to VTT. There is more than 1 Member amongst us who loves their vintage camper who will probably never camp in it. For some it is the hunt, the rebuild and yes just enjoying it where it sits. One Member, mobiltec has produced over 200 videos regarding all stuff vintage campers. You could start viewing his titles. The way this forum is set up is to have sections dedicated to various aspects of camper repairs. Familiarize yourself with the different sections. Scroll down through some of the thread titles and you will soon discover that there is information about everything you will be doing to your Shasta discussed here. Relax, get a feel for the Shasta and then decide what tasks you want to tackle.

Vintage campers are built inside out and they are usually repaired from the outside in (that is a very simplistic statement but basically true). As you familiarize yourself with the forum you will learn how to succeed in your repair strategy. Just don't start tearing things apart right away. Get a feeling for how that nice Shasta was put together first. Good Luck and have fun!

Welcome to the forum! Nice looking Shasta...There is a lots of info here. You will have a bit of work in your girl, but I found that it was not so bad if you have good general wood working skills and a place to lay it all out. I agree with the "BRUCE" and when you get comfortable, I'd pic a side and start pulling the skin at her skirt. Take a peek and start crunching dimensions and numbers...Start a log as well and take some pictures,
Rule is if you learn from other peoples endeavors, you gotta share yours as well.. :))

Thanks for sharing your photos. I think that is an excellent choice for a hang out trailer. I have a friend with a hardwired Shasta Compact that is a permanent and lovely fixture in her backyard. Take your time, research here on the forum like Bruce suggested and tackle it in small sections. We look forward to see what you do with it. Looks like you have a good start with the pics for a log like Pathfinder suggested. And welcome to our mad, mad, mad world.
