Someone posted this on my Facebook thread today. It is a story of a 3 year old boy who touched his RV and was killed. I didn't know this was even possible. I am having my trailer wired by a guy who does it for a living, and we always use a surge protector when we plug in. Any other things I should be doing to keep it safe?

That's very sad. I've never heard of anyone dying from touching the skins of an RV before this but not long ago there were some kids who were electrocuted and died from touching a boat in the water.
Ground, ground, ground.

This is what several post on the board has been talking about on both this board and the old board, When they talk about separating your grounds in the breaker box. They are talking about being electrocuted when you touch the trailer skins especially if bare footed or wet feet. It is a very real thing. A trailer is not wired like your home, they are two different worlds. several different people have addressed this multiple times.

Bill do you have any idea what to search under for that thread. I have not been on here as long as most of you so I don't remember a thread about that, but I'd like to read it.

Read the articles on grounding and hot skin. They are talking about conditions that can cause everything from a tingle to electrocution. A house wiring system is grounded to earth a trailer is not so if you wire it wrong and the skin becomes hot then you become the ground rod if the system has a problem. The better you are making a connection with the earth the more power you would have traveling through your body example standing in a puddle barefoot. This could be strong enough to have fatal results, depending on the shorting condition. As you read through the electrical section pay attention to hot skin and proper grounding posts.
