I'm having a heck of a time finding 1/8 birch plywood. Does anybody have a good on line source for it Has anyone purchased in SE Wisconsin or northern Illinois? Does 1/4 work or is it to hard to bend

I don't have a local source for you in wisconsin. but I do know that some folks have had success with cabinet makers...ask for cabinet face material it is usually 5/32 a bit thicker than 1/8 will still work fine (adjust for it) but usually of better quality than what you will find at the big box stores.

Try local lumber yards and ask for "Door Skins". I usually by the 3 x 7 but they sell 4 x 8 as well...

I went to our local lumber yard and asked for 1/8" birch, they had it. The big box places won't - you need a genuine, old-fashioned, locally-owned lumber yard.

I'm glad you asked this. I am looking too. A local cabinet maker is checking for us, but if that doesn't work, I will call more lumber yards, although I've already called quite a few...

Bay Ridge Building Supply Inc. Address: 2446 Bay Settlement Rd, Green Bay, WI 54311 Phone:(920) 468-1023 Hours: Closed on Sunday
I purchased all my 1/8 paneling from them, 18 4x8 sheets. Lacquered panels so if that may be a problem with staining.

I talked to the people at this place. The 1/8 inch birch has some type of epoxy, acrlyic finish on them. I don't know if it is on both sides. They also have 1/8" Maple, which I used in the restoration of my 64 Shasta Compact. I will probably make a trip there after the holidays. Prices are around $25 a sheet for birch or maple. Those are the only two they have in 1/8 inch. I have made many phone calls trying to find some panels that would work, but man, $50 a sheet is just ridiculous.

Oh ya that's high. See any lumber yard can order it but they have to order a minimum of a "unit". 100 sheets in most cases. So it's a matter of demand. They don't want to get stuck with 97 sheets just to save you some money when you only want 3. That's why asking the cabinet makers in the area is a good idea. One of them may know where to find it for a decent price. Door makers are another source of info.
