im trying to find new weather striping for me 68 shasta. It is for the front window louvers two on each side of a solid center window. The seal mounts in a small groove on the window frame, the louver window aluminum edge closes down on it to seal. I have looked at VTS and nothing looks the same. Just wanted to know if anyone knows where i could look or if their might be an alternative? Thanks aaron

Let me try and answer your question about Jailousie seals. This is a huge problem for vintage trailer, and you will not find a single "correct" answer to your question.
First, the seals are usually different at the top, bottom, and sides, so you will need at least three to four different kinds and sizes of seals per window. There is not just one brand of Jailousie window, which makes it very difficult to figure out exactly what you need for "your windows".
Here's what you need to do. Remove any seals that may still be hidden in the channels. Save the pieces, and "carefully measure" them with a micrometer, or a caliper. You need both the width and height measurements. Record your measurements. Vintage Trailer Supply (VTS) has a very good website with the measurements of every seal listed. Just because it looks correct, and says it's for a jailousie window, does not mean it will fit "YOUR MAKE OF WINDOW". The correct replacement seal will likely "not look like" the sample you remove, because the old seals will be crushed from sixty years of use.
In addition to VTS, you can find the seals in better hardware stores (ACE, True Value) in their sliding door and sliding window section. Just to fill up the gaping hole space at the sides, I have even resorted to using window screen spline, which comes in about six or seven different thicknesses. Home Depot (surprisingly) had the best size selection of splines.
It's much easier to install the seals with the windows out of the trailer. Soapy water, WD-40, or the like helps to get them to slide. It's a total PITA job.
VTS has some pretty nice $$$ lip seals that fit on the glass bottom edges to seal against the next pane. Which would be a great sealing improvement if you are unfortunate enough to have this style of window on the front of a trailer towing in a rainstorm.
I hate Jailousie windows, they have to be the worst designed window style ever made for a RV.

Get or build a rock guard for the front window set. It will help keep the rain out when towing. Besides protecting your window set from rain and rocks, it makes for a nice little shade awning in front when it's open.

Well a photo tells a thousand words..............Those are not Jailousie windows, they are Hehr Clearview, as I have on my 1958 Mallard.
They are nice working windows when all cleaned up. Good to hear that VTS will have the seals by spring, because I could also use some. The original seals shrink due to heat. VTS has their seals made from silicone rubber and do not shrink, better than original.
In general, VTS has added tons of specialty products to their product line up in the past few years. They are a great resource for the hobby.
