I was planning on restoring my original gas lantern, as it is in good condition. But then I saw this one for sale www.vintagetrailersupply.com/12_Volt_Gas_Lamp_p/vts-2059.htmSo I am not sure which I should use. I don't know much about gas lanterns, if you guys could give me some of the benefits of each that would be awesome!

Propane gas lights are "vintage" correct, produce light but are also "very hot", and the "mantles are very delicate" after they are burned.
Electric lights are "modern" not vintage correct, need a 12V system not available in every trailer.
I think the best solution for most of our trailers is to have all three light systems 12V, 110V, and Propane.
Just decide how you plan to use your trailer and equip it to fit your needs.

I agree with John, if you have all three you will never be without a source of light. The propane lights do generate an awful lot of heat (and some moisture), but in cold weather this is a good thing! I have recently installed a 12V system in my trailer using LED's. They are amazing! Clean, bright, white light, with very little current draw. In fact, they are so nice I am considering doing without the 110 AC lights all together. At this point if I just add solar charging, we will not even need a shore power connection at all. ( I removed the Carrier A/C roof unit because it was so noisy we wouldn't have been able to sleep anyway!) Instead we have "Fantastic Fan" and a couple of 12V fans which will keep things comfy on all but the worst nights.
