Any way of fixing a wheel well that is split like this without taking to a welder? I hear they are spendy. PO just duct taped it. Anyone well replacement wheel wells? Might be cheaper than welder fees. Plus, it's pretty bent up. Looks like the PO got a Honey Badger trapped under the sink.

I saw a wheel well that a previous owner just bent the seams tightly together and used a metal strap around the corner to secure it. (Bolting each end.) Then they used tar to seal it. Not pretty but it lasted decades.

It's not a very clear photo, but I would doubt that it is a welded seam. I would guess it galvanized sheet metal, and it will not weld easily. Most likely it's a type of sheet metal seam called a Pittsburgh Seam. If your careful......you could bend back the "hammered over" lip on the curved section, and then use a body hammer and dolly to straighten the flat section. Look at the other fender to see how it's supposed to look.
The entire repair would take less than five minutes to put it together, after you get it all straightened. Just use a little urethane for a seam sealer when your done.

By the way, that's what happens when you get a flat tire and don't notice it till the tire comes apart. John has the right fix for it. I've had to repair a few of those myself. Most people don't want to remove the cabinet that sits over it so they use good old duct tape. Keeps the spiders out.

Good info here. Man314, I bet your not the first to have this problem. Thanks for sharing. I would say a good half of the trailers I have worked on have had this problem.
