Do any of you cats (or have you) use/used one of these? As I attack deeply embedded, rusty staples with a plethora of hand tools I wonder if there is a better way? Just thinking that this little gadget may be well worth the asking price. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXc-R78n-LU

Doesn't look like it would be any better than a tiny "cat's paw" type nail extractor to me...

But it's got an "ergonomic" handle . I may try one. There's a couple of different models out there but all seem to work the same with the rocker/grab design. I'm thinking it may work for staples thru skins but caution would be needed for staples through panels that you're gonna save.

My go to tools for pulling staples are a Awl or Flat head Screw driver and a pair of Dykes(wire Cutters). In fact I am currently redoing the couches in my Kenskill and I must have pulled no less than 600 staples and upholstery tacks from years of upholstery jobs, where all they did is change the fabric and go over the old fasteners.
Just an observation on the video, tapping a tool on a counter does not make it heavy duty!!

I use an upholstery regulator from when I worked at an upholstery shop. We cut the end off to make it flat (not done yet in this photo) and we use them with a small hammer. They go under any staple and they are super strong, so when you pull the staples lose they don't break. I tend to use it with my side cutters or other pliers to pull the staples all the way out of they are stuck. But they get in where other tools fail. They cost about $10.00 and can be bought at an upholstery supply shop. If they have two sizes, buy the larger one.. they are even stronger. (Simple is sometimes the most effective)

I use a large sharp awl as well. Tap it under the staple and pry against a piece of wood or putty knife. My horse shoeing "nail pullers" are very handy to grab the skinny little metal:
