My Wife and I had to go to a wedding a month or so ago, and we stayed overnight at a house we found on AirBnB. (don't know if you have heard of it, but basically you can rent rooms from homeowners by the night. Usually pretty inexpensive, cheaper than a hotel, and you meet some interesting people. Anyway, the house we stayed at was occupied by the Grandson of the previous owner who had passed away, and his Wife. The house was awesome.. all Youngstown cabinets, sink. The counter top was really large, with a seperate island, ALL covered with original aqua boomerang laminate! When I saw it I told them I loved it, and he said to me: Really? we are renovating and these counters are the FIRST thing I want to replace. I hate them" I offered to come and remove them for him when it was time for them to remodel, and he said okay. I got an email from him yesterday saying I can come in about two weeks. Psyched! I don't think I am going to try and remove the laminate. Rather, I will just cut the counter top and table to size. This got me thinking.. I wonder how likely it would be to get some by posting an add on Craigslist mentioning wanting to purchase old counter tops (and show a few pictures) if renovating. It might even be a good idea to call or contact builders who are doing renovations that if they come across desirable Formica counter tops.. Tell them you will come help remove, and pay a nominal fee.. Who knows??? I am not paying anything for mine, and it is prob. 20 ft of counter top, plus the island which is more than big enough for my table. ! I just have to go and remove it, which is fine with me: I would rather do it myself anyway so it doesn't get damaged. Any thoughts or other ideas along these lines???

I've been searching for something similar = cracked ice tables big enough for my table and counter. Same plan.
