Follow up on my search for a local metal skin source. 4M Metals in Ridgeland, SC ( close to Hilton Head/Beaufort) came through for me on two pieces at 4 x 7 with the 6 inch run out of .032 aluminum in a mill finish ready to be painted. Paid $70 set up for the 6 inch run and a total of $219 for both. So anyone needing skins in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, they are a great source. Ordered on Monday and picked up on Thursday. Regards Mike Very fair price I think. What is meant by ready to be painted? This stuff comes with oil on the surface from some places. And I'm not 100% sure because I use a painter but I think all aluminum needs to be etched before priming or you must use self etching primer??? Might be a question for John. I've never used etch primer on aluminum, I think it's the "kinda, old school" way of doing it. My paint store advises me to just sand it to 320-400 grit. Then "two part" epoxy primer, scuff the primer, and shoot the color coat. So far, I not had any problems with adhesion.
Make sure you use a good prep cleaner (supplied by the paint store) "before, and after" you sand to remove all grease and old from the surface. Never touch the surface with bare hands after you start applying primer/paint. Make sure you have both "clean, and dry" air to shoot the paint.

Thanks guys ! Believe vendor called it mill finish but will double check what he meant. Have painted several cars but very little aluminum so will follow your advice and take my time.

Ya there's a whole forum here dedicated to paint. If I had a place I could do it I would paint my own trailers. I don't have a place to do it though.
