I'm charting some new ground and I need some advice from our tile experts. I need to drill four 3/4" diameter holes in some small square ceramic flooring tile.
I'm putting a full sized claw foot tub (reproduction, not iron) in a trailer, and it will have a ceramic tile floor. The larger holes for the drain and the toilet will be easy because I can chip, or remove the tiles to the hole size and they have a large cover around the hole. But on the four claw foot legs I need to have a nice tight hole size.
This will not be a "traveling trailer", it's going to be a guest house. The tile is going on a 1 1/2" thick plywood subfloor.
I'm sure someone here has tile experience, and maybe a recommendation for a good ceramic hole saw.

The best place I've found for tile advice is the John Bridge forums, aka Tile Your World. Very friendly professionalsthat walked me through over 2500 square feet of floor and a couple of showers. www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/index.php

John if you want an inexpensive way to only make a few small holes try taking a glass cutter of cutting through the glaze on the tile then very carefully take a small pin punch sharpen into a chisel and chip it out. It is a pain but not two bad if you only need a hole or two. Practice on some scrape. You can also buy a carbide bite to go in your drill and cut them out, the ones that work like a file/saw. Third option might be a Dremel tool with a diamond bit. You might also check Harbor Freight they used to carry tile cutting tools.

Second john bridge. Done a dozen projects with advice from there. If its true ceramic, then most bits will work. For a hole like that in ceramic like subway, a dremel bit like this works great... Just used last month to cut a shower pipe hole in my bathroom remodel. If its porcelain, you might have much more trouble, but I've seen an expensive diamond hole saw referenced at John bridge in the last month. www.dremel.com/en-us/Tools/Pages/ToolDetail.aspx?pid=562
