Good Day folks,
I have an old 19' Terry Taurus trailer which I am working on and as I have been removing the rotten wood (ever see blue foam insulation water logged ? I have now) and I discovered something peculiar and hope someone can help me out here...
Both the Fresh water & Grey Water tanks have wires coming from them leading up to where the old water pump was located. It's quite a rats nest of wire, that looks like old "Bell Telephone 6 wire" and it's just a jumbled mass. A previous owner "had made repairs" by cutting them all and bundling the ends into a pile, unattached to anything. I did notice some kind of wire harness of similar wire (remnants thereof) leading towards where the battery & charger/inverter were located.
Can anyone tell me what these wires are for on the Fresh Water & Grey Water tanks ?
* I am assuming for the fresh water, some kind of float level so the pump doesn't run dry ? * Grey water tank maybe something to indicate it's full ?
I want to reuse both these systems, so I am going to have to reconnect the floats if that is what these wires are for... Where can I find out more or if anyone has any Tips, Tricks & Suggestions would be much appreciated.
Ideally, if these are wires for fill level floats, I'd like to hook them up so I have a gauge for each that shows the levels in my utility cupboard.
Thanks in Advance WhiteStar (aka Steve)

The wires are probably for tank sensors. The sensors are simple metal probes thru the side of the tank that register a reading on a Monitor inside the trailer. Very inaccurate. On fresh water tanks, they sometimes work, grey tanks once in a while and almost never on a black tank.
Visit a lot that sells newer RVs and you will see the monitors. The salesman will probably be happy to explain how they work and how "Necessary" they are.
Don't waste the time and effort.
