Can anyone tell me what the 2 inch wide, wood ledge is that is under the front window of my Shasta Deluxe? I'm trying to refinish and it seems to be screwed in from the outside. There is another piece of wood about 10 inches below that, that seems to be for the table. Thanks.

It's a support board for the front. My Deluxe had one; I reframed inside the wall to compensate and left it out.

It acts as a "torsion rod" across the front of the trailer. It is designed to look nice, and to stiffen the crosswise section of the front wall, which supports the large window framing. This is the front of a early-60's Airflyte with the same thing, just below the windows. It is attached by large nails or screws from the outside. Personally I would never recommend removing it because of the way these structures are tied together and rely on each separate part to provide the strength to hold together, but then I have not tried to remove and to compensate in the framing or otherwise. If it can be done, it has been done!

Thanks so much for the answers. Going to leave mine since the wood is in great shape. PO kept this trailer in a garage. It does have a little damage by one of the front, dinette side windows. Replacing all that.

yeah, what they said, I took the front window out, and the J-rail off the side and was able to pull the skin back and get to the big screws and removed it, re-stained it and put it back in without issue after I installed my new white walls.
