If you have this style lock, you can easily get locked out. To avoid this, keep something (we use a small s-hook) through the hole to keep it from accidentally flipping into the locked position. The exterior key lock works independently and will not unlock the interior lock. When you want to lock it from the inside just remove the s-hook but remember to put it back in! This happened to me! LOL. I no longer install a cab latch inside that has a lock...

Oh, wow! Thanks. I have now have two trailers with these handles/locks. I'm the queen of getting locked out so I will be be very mindful in the future, I hope.
