Hi! The trailer I just bought has a deep cycle marine battery that the previous owner purchased. She used it to power a stereo and two reading lights and to charge cell phones. These things are currently wired directly to the battery terminals/posts. My question is whether there is some sort of switch plate or cover I could install to more easily power one receiver at a time and add/change receivers as necessary. And generally make things neater; neat is good in a tiny trailer.
Also, I need a battery charger and need a point in the right direction.
Thank you!

OK the first thing you need is a fuse block, run everything through a proper sized fuse. Also used a master fuse near the battery. This will keep you from burning the trailer up hopefully. Also will allow for a neat orderly hook up of all circuits. As for your question about a charger there many ways to go, I would suggest a regulated unit that will charge the battery and supply 12 volts when you are plugged to a shore line (110 AC). If you just use an inexpensive battery charger you run the risk of overcharging and ruining your battery, A good system designed for your trailer battery will pay for itself in the long run by extended battery life and convenience. Go online or to your local RV dealer to see the different choices available and their price range, probably less expensive on line but not always.
The reason I suggested a regulated system is some battery chargers will put out 18 or more volts which could spell death to a modern electronic device such as laptops, cellphones, stereos, and such. Also when selecting a fuse panel buy one with a cover to prevent accidental shorts if some thing fails/ slides into it. if your battery is not in a battery box I would suggest that also for the same reason, plus it helps prevent battery acid from ruining surrounding objects.

Thank you! I have already started looking at battery boxes. Right now it's just sitting in one of the dinette seat boxes. I can't think about putting anything else in there for storage with those risks.

You also want to have your battery box vented.....Wet cell batteries tend to give off gasses

Most stores sell battery MAINTAINERS starting at $20. They will not overcharge and I've got one battery going on 11 years... The fuse block has one hot wire for a supply line. It branches out to different circuits:
