Got our new old 14 x 14 vent all cleaned up. It came out great.
Anyway, the original gasket was small and grey. It fit between the groves of the metal.
What's offered at VTS is black and self adheasive. It sits on the metal.
I ordered it and it's too bulky. The top won't close with this gasket.
Was going to re-use the original(no cracks) but after washing, it shrunk
Anyone have a source for the original style gasket?
TIA for your help!

Here's how we "stretch a engine gasket" that has shrunk. It may sound crude, but it works, and has been used for the past hundred years!
Find a large smooth hard surface, I use my welding table. Lay the gasket flat on the hard surface. Use a heavy hammer, and carefully hammer the flat straight sides of the gasket against the table. Go slowly, as it easy to stretch it too far. You can make it larger, but not smaller.

Thank you John! I wonder if soaking it in hot water would help too?
