Great trailer. Love your truck tent. Saw some people in a campground with tents on their boat and they were camping in it. Also saw some campers in a U-Haul trailer.

Finally had a chance to take some photos of the newest family member...It's a 16 SC model. Paperwork says it is a 1970. I have found some indications it is newer, like the dark paneling for instance. I am really excited with the condition it's in. It was a critter house for a lot of years, but was found parked underneath a shelter. The interior is filthy but the ceiling is not sagged, and there is no water damage around the vents...yet. They are both broken and the one for the refrigerator is missing. They need replacing, as does the putty tape all around.

I took the truck tent for the trip figuring it was going to be a 3-day trip. I used it the first night after loading the camper on the hauler, but slept in the cab the second night. Sure would have rathered the tent...We purchased the tent when we first got the truck, figuring it would be a while before the campers would be ready. I didn't anticipate this long! But the tent has been rather enjoyable.

It has one injured wing. Even so, this is my first set of original wings!

Way cool Ten... I give it a thumbs up. Now for the best question of all. How much? I broke all the rules with this one. Purchased it sight unseen with a set of photos that showed enough of the condition to know it had not leaked a lot and the interior was pretty good. I paid $800 for it. It probably cost that much to get it home.

Cool. In todays market I think you did just fine. As far as sight unseen that rule is only good if you care about damage. When you already know what the worst case can be and accept it, then there is no reason for that rule...

Hi,
Nice find! That's my goal to find something like this.
I am a newbie. Am I allowed to ask how you found it or does the answer give away too many secret.
How'd you end up spending $800 to get it home?
Pardon my newbiesque questions. Just hoping to learn.
Cheers

The only secret there is really is patience. I have read so many tales and also had it happen so many times, that they just seem to come along and find you.
I have spent a lot of time looking through ads and craigslist, even when I was not looking for more projects. I think the owner of this one actually came on here, trying to scope a value out for it. When they finally landed on their price I got in touch and made the offer to buy it.
The problem was that I live in New York, and the trailer was located in Illinois. Even with most of the winter laid off from work, the horrible weather we kept getting kept me from going after it. I finally begged off a couple days from work and went after it. Between the gas, (about 9 mpg towing for 700 miles), meals (which were not much since I traveled alone), and tolls on the turnpike, I figure it was close to $800, even though I have been too scared to add up the gas receipts. (Tolls alone were nearly $80 on the way out, empty. On the way back I took the state roads and saw a little of the countryside, rather than paying again.)
