I love my little camper even more after looking at new ones. Lot's of bells and whistles on those new trailers, but also lots of fake tile wallpaper, poor workmanship, inferior materials and big price tags. The only little bit of envy I have is for the small through the wall air conditioners that fit in the cabinets of the smaller units. I'd gladly give up part of my oversized trunk for one of those.

I will never understand the fascination with the monstrous/tribal-art covered boxes passing for campers these days. To each his own, I know, and I am not judging anyone who wants to spend their money on one.. just doesn't appeal to me. I just think they have no personality, and will definitely not be sought after 50 years from now.. Not everyone wants to "make do" in a vintage camper.. to me that's the fun. The old campers are so well designed (for the most part) to use all available space.. Its better to go smaller IMHO, but that is not the way Americans, as a whole operate. It seems like for the most part bigger + better. Not in my book!

Sounds like a fun outing for you Cheri, especially since you came away with an even deeper appreciation for your Vanbrook and all of the work you put into her! The air conditioner unit is on my "would love to have" list too. Unfortunately, the "have to have" list has consumed most of the budget!
