My darling GF says I've been "trailered" ! It all started with buying a property that has a late 50's Vantage (terribly molested & abused) so it's got to be torn down & I'm building on top of the foundation that it was set on.
This has now led to my buying a 20 foot, 1974 Terry Taurus Trailer that will be put on my property so I can have somewhere to eat, sleep & stay dry in during foul weather while working on the new build and such. Fortunately it is less than 1 Kilometer from my property, so talk about too simple & convenient, someone smiled on us . There are no manuals or doc's with it, as obviously over the years those items vanish...
I don't know a thing about trailer's, as my experience is limited to having simply "slept in them" on odd occasions. The fellow I bought it from started explaining all the various things to do and the hookups quirks and whatnot... Geez, not so simple EH ! So if anyone has a Owners Manual... HELP.... Alternately any suggested Reading related to setting up and running all the various bits.... (Be gentle, I'm a trailer Virgin LOL)
The Stove, Fridge, Furnace, Water heater work but need to be cleaned out (burners etc).
There is a small electric water pump which is disconnected. I'm assuming that this is for an internal water tank maybe ?
The water systems are currently "winterized" so I'll have to dump that & clean it out, the seller says I can dump it into my Septic Tank without issues, which seems reasonable but I have to ask....
The roof has been re-sealed by them and they showed me a couple of spots that are "known areas of issues" and told me what to do to keep an eye on it and fixing it.
The trailer was previously hooked to a supply and I will make the effort to do so on my site but there will be a period that my Well won't be accessible as power will be off for a few days during service mast being moved, so I suppose having the internal water pump working would be a good plan.
The seller suggested I get 4 medium cement patio pavers and 4 Jack Stands for the corners, which makes sense I guess, as just sitting on the double axles & tongue stand it may not be that stable... Seems to me that there would be some kind of built in supports on the trailer for that but maybe not in 74 (would have been logical IMO).
Advice, Suggestions on a good RV Owners Handbook or if anyone knows where I can find an Owners Manual would be Greatly Appreciated. We will be moving it up to my property sometime next week, so I'd like to get a bit more up to speed on this trailer.
Thanks in Advance
PS: Been searching the web a couple of hours now, seems like I have a LOT of Company looking for "Terry Taurus" trailer manuals. Well IF I find one, I will scan it, PDF it and post it up for others to have... shouldn't be a secret IMO.
