I watched Larry's video where he staples the frame pieces together with little cutouts of aluminum. I really like this but in many areas I just don't have the room to do this from the outside. Do you think I can do this from the inside area and not have the thickness of the aluminum sheet interfere with how the birch paneling goes together?

If you are talking about using flat siding 26 thousandths or so thick I don't see a problem BUT you might consider kreg screws for a better joint, very easy to do.

The little pieces of aluminum are for front and rear windows at the curves. Other framing should be more secure...

My Shasta framing was originally toe-nailed. I used of combination of toe-nails and Kreg pocket screws. I will confess that in the beginning, I wasn't very good with the pocket holes and found toe-nailing easier and faster. I drilled small pilot holes at an angle for toe-nailing. Sometimes it was more convenient to use the pocket screws in places too awkward to toe-nail. Btw, I'm much better with the Kreg pocket hole jig now I'm no expert, I'm just somebody that does what works for me. I have had to take some of my work apart and I'm convinced it's not coming loose on its own anytime soon.

And.. As I was putting some stuff together a few weeks ago, might I add?... Reguardless of the angle of attack.. Kregg drill, pilot hole and a pit drill or counter sunk.. Dealing with this 1", 3/4" stuff is so "iffy"... Toe nailing, Toe screwing?... I see no problem in the strength of either. Putting the kregg to a rabbit joints is the best in all but few conditions... You "caint" do it everywhere. There are locations one "braces her up"..Then we fill it all out. In the vertical framing of course, I am a firm believer in the GLUE!.. Dip it or spread it out even..screw it tight until it weeps, and then wipe it off... I mean you are there.. Why not?...

Another little trick:
Trim Screws act the same as Kregs when pre-drilled. Use a 6" 1/8 drill bit to align the hole, then the Trim Screws will bury their heads, keeping them out of the way of window installs, etc.
Glue helps for sure.
