My trailer has a window unit, and it also has a roof a/c. The person I bought it from said that the roof a/c worked for about a year, and then just quit working, and that it sounded like it wasn't getting any electricity to it. As long as the window unit cools efficiently, I would be ok with just keeping that. The cover for the roof a/c was knocked off, and others have suggested to me that I need to cover it with a tarp since it can let rain without the cover. With the exception of purchasing a new cover for it, does anyone have any suggestions for either getting rid of it altogether, repairing, or a more permanent covering than a tarp when I get around to that?

Remove the inside plenum (plastic thing). You will see 4 bolts inside the ceiling. Loosen and remove them. The A/C will lift off the roof. (weighs about 100 pounds, so get help) Also, you'll need support boards on the roof to prevent dips and dents. The hole will be 14 x 14, a Fantastic Fan will fit or a common RV vent.
