Hello all, I have a question regarding cleansers. I have a 1966 Ace Club Royal. It is white with accent bands that at one time were painted gold on the quilted aluminum. The gold has faded and it is now just the aluminum. I am toying with the idea of cleaning/shining the accent band and painting with a clearcoa t. Is there a cleanser that will clean this area easily and maybe even clean the pits that exist. I do not expect to pits to disappear but thought maybe there was something available that would clean out the dirt in the pits.

I do not have any gold on my trailer and I can only tell you what I did. I cleaned my skins with Borax and a sponge mop. Borax is a natural mineral, sodium tetraborate, no phospates, and it will remove mildew and hard water stains. It did not remove the rust stains. But the amount of mildew and mold it took off with ease was amazing and it took off the dead paint, too. Then I rinsed them with vinegar which removed any remaining soap. I don't know how it would work on your gold. If you decide to try it, choose a small spot to test.
Do not use any cleanser with ammonia or chlorine. It has a bad reaction with aluminum.
I love Borax, besides being a good cleaner, it is naturally environmentally friendly.
