And that's where they buried him.. dam shame what they did to his dog. . I had to say brother.. (lol) I'm just kiddin' with ya. I have not been beside a nasty camper in over 20 years. I have been beside some laughter late at night. Perhaps a little radio.. It was just a thing, nothing that was not forgivable. It's a big world, sometimes we want to get away from everything for the weekend and everthing works out, sometimes it don't. Life is short so I try to stay tolerant, I am only passing thru and I know it. Talking smack with a shouldered weapon in our open country is a real bad idea. We all have weapons here. Good guys and bad guys. Maybey that's why it runs a little smoother. Most of us in the NC have did a hitch or two as a soilder or Marine as well, so we've all spent some brass on the range.. I can here the eyewitness news now.. (lol) "Officer, It was dark, he came up with a black assault rifle and a crazy dog. Look, his car has California plates, most likely another drifter".. Can we split up his gear now?
you would be surprized how accurate my play with words might be..
Mobiltec, you do so much to help so many campers that you will never ever see. Would you really pop those drunks for being to rowdy?... Right.. now whats with the shovel?

I never take an AR-15 camping with me but I always keep my Glock loaded with personnel suppressors with me. The best campfire story I have ever witnessed happened years ago in a similar situation as above only the guy took three m80s and stood back in the dark and tossed them in the fire and then disappeared, I have never seen a group of people sober up so fast in my life. Most camp grounds have a ten or eleven o'clock quite down time around here.

I've seen some rowdy groups on the river at races and runs.. But, ya kinda know that people are going to be going at it most of the night. Not threating by anymeans.. They are just partying. Most of the campground we go to now are just that.. Campgrounds, not open lands so much.. We camp with families,or small groups.. Paying customers sometime change the climate in such venues..

pathfinder do you think maybe we get older and smarter? Or maybe just boring as we learn what some of the things will do to us.

Mobletec you are just like my dad...only he is even crazier because in a Canada guns are illegal. I'll be sure to make sure my fire doesn't smoke towards your trailer when I come to the annual rally. Lol

Lol Well this would have never happened in any kind of a park. This was out in the middle of Panamint Valley which is next to Death Valley for those of you who don't know. It was crazy because he had the whole desert to camp in and picked a spot right next to me.

Last year we were on the opposite side of the bath house from "Lisa from Texas and her foster kids" ... apparently well known through the campground and their facebook page. Instead of having her foster kids play in the group site she was next to, she sent them to the road and bath house right beside us. It got ugly. She had the nerve to say that our 4 kids weren't allowed to be kids (our 2 each had a friend) No... they are respectful of others and they ranged in age from 12-15, which was much different from her heard of kids ranging from 2-young adult who hooped and hollered like wild indians. Litterally. They did. worse camping trip ever next to the time we were in a thunderstorm with 2 toddlers in the side of a hill.
We do have music and fire and fun but not to the volume or time it bothers others. And we don't mind anyone else having a good time as long as they are respectful as well. Lisa and her foster kids were horrible.

No I would never "pop" anyone for being too rowdy... I had the weapon with me so they would leave me alone whilst I put out their fire. I was clearly out numbered and would only shoot if attacked. I just wanted them to know that I meant business and was not to be messed with.
It's pretty obvious to me that most of you have not ever camped in a place like Panamint or Death Valleys. More than one outlaw in recent years has been killed by the local LE because they run around the valleys holding people up. These are usually drug addicts and they are dangerous. I never go anywhere in these types of places un-armed and I am not afraid to display my weaponry. Sometimes I wear a side arm in open sight. It keeps honest people honest and it keeps the tweekers away.
In this case at Ballarat, I knew that going over there with nothing more than a smile was not going to resolve anything.

I gotcha brother.. I was just trying to find some humor in it.. "Open country camping".. Outlaws can dissapear out there for a little while if not forever. In one of my exploring videos we run across one of the camps that we think the last one they shot used. He was called "The Ballarat Bandit"... Google that and you will see what I mean. We found night vision goggle parts as if he had been repairing a set. We found boots and other personal items and AMMO that had been out there long enough to match up with the date he was killed. No one had used the camp since as far as we could tell. He had a great spot for watching people coming and going up and down one of the few roads out there. Perfect set up for spying and planning. I've been robbed twice. Once by gun and the other by knife point. Since then I am never without some kind of weapon and I no longer carry a wallet. I guarantee you that I will never be robbed again.

By the way, Ballarat is where I found my Westerner. This video tells all about the Ballarat Bandit and I was out there when all this was going on. You will see my friend Rocky or Rock as he likes to be called and his general store in the ghost town of Ballarat. This is also where Charlie Manson would bring his girls back when more people used to live there. Mostly miners. Charlie would sit in my Westerner with the owner and chat and drink sodas while his women mined the pockets of the other miners.
This is why I am always armed when I go to places like this. By the way, he did not meet his end exactly the way shown in this video.
