Not really a repair question, more of a customization question. Anyone out there swap out the old original taillights that are kind of plain and boring for something else? All you hot rodders, using any 39 Ford Teardrops or anything? If so love to see pictures so I could have an idea what they look like on my old Shasta!

Awesome. Exactly what I was thinking. What exactly are they where did you buy?

1948 Ford tail lights are nice for a vintage look. You can find LED bulb reproductions. All you want is the light/lens and the chrome bezel. You can get them from Vintique.

You can install some beautiful tail lights BUT walk back a couple hundred feet in the dark and see if you were half asleep talking on your cell phone on cruise control at 80 MPH would you see them in time to not run into the back of your trailer. If not you need more or brighter lights.

Agree with all of the above.
You "still need" to have side and rear reflectors, and reflective tape so you have good visibility without the tow vehicle lights turned on.

The bezels can be found cheaper than $49 from Velcro. The lights are not good quality, so you're paying for the bezels.

If I recall correctly I used different bezels as well, mine are a bit thicker and the eyebrows stick out another 1/4 inch, dont recall where I found them. I think all I ended up using from my original purchase was the red lenses, they were more red than the ones that came with the LED set I bought.

Thanks, Universal. Your lights are definitely better quality than velcro strip.
Just discovered that the 50 Pontiac lights I've been using for tails now require a 2 1/2" cutout which I'm not willing to do... Hunting for the surface mount style has been a pain.
