Our '59 Shasta has a floor heater. Haven't hooked it up yet to try it out, but wondering if these were common, popular? Haven't seen one or anyone talking about them. Do they work well? OUCH to step on? Any common replacements of a newer vintage anyone has done?

I have heard of them in a trailer but never have actually saw one. I know that gas floor furnaces in a house can get very hot and you wouldn't want to make contact with them, but the trailer furnace may be different.

The grid does get hot. You wouldn't want kid or dog toes to make contact.

I have a gas wall furnace which came in my 64 Shasta 1500. I have cleaned off the rust and wanted it to look good so I painted it with enamel which matched the putty color perfectly. Problem, It can not take the heat and smells terrible and has browned, when the furnace runs. Ideas? What was the paint that was on it originally?

Mark, I think enamel paint will definitely "burn" as well as stink while it heat-cures.... I recently painted the covers for the heater in my SC, and used a high-heat Rustoleum to do it with. They do not have a huge choice of colors, I know of black, silver-white, and a copper color (which is what I used. Original was chocolate brown). I have not put it back together even, let alone fired it. But I would suggest firing it with the windows open for a while, sometime before actually wanting to use it.

I have a '62 airflyte with a floor heater and after getting the gas system checked the valve in the heater is no good. Is there a replacement that would work with it or is it just better to junk this and fit a new furnace somewhere else in the trailer

Idahomike, I'd look into a Wave 3 or 6. The 3 is probably enough, the 6 will cook you and yours unless really cold out...
