It sits near the door. Looks like a spice rack.

I say it's for Flashlights. The Old Chrome ones that took 3 "D's". Probably a $1.50 extra from the factory? Flat head screws, wow..:

Or a match box holder. From the looks of the screws, I'd say it's not original.

If it is not original, they did an excellent job with the color.

Will a large box of matches fit in the spaces? A lot of people mount the tin match box holders next to the door near the stove for lighting the stove top.

I am betting an original owner added that to hold.....something. It is not ever going to be known exactly what. It was not likely original from the factory, so there would be no way of knowing without knowing or being a direct descendant of the person who put it there. I would use it to hold both my beers whilst frying sausage and eggs on the stove.

I think they camped in the swamp and that held two cans of Deep Woods Off. And that is probably as good a guess as any, it is not real old judging by the Velcro straps and I am certain it wasn't factory.

I think it would hold an old box of wood matches. It is by the stove, so that makes sense. If it is a beer holder, it is for very small beers.
