Anyone know of a source to get a quality cover that will fit and protect. I have a 64 Shasta 1500 with wings and am looking for a nice protective cover. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most tarps and RV covers will tear at the point of the wings. Only thing that may help is to cut a tennis ball or something like it to fit over the wing points.

You want to look for one that has UV protection. All the cheap ones (almost all of them, IMO) will only last six months if the sun hits the cover.
As Soup pointed out, fit is important. "Too tight" and it will tear, "too loose" and it will abrade the paint flapping in the wind.

I understand this. I have also read that the swimming tubes when cut will fit nicely on the wings. I still need a source of where to get a good cover. and yes, I had the tarp abrade through the paint this last windy winter season. So, Where do I turn? My good buddies at VTT to answer my questions and point me in the correct direction. Come on guys and gals. Help me out. MW

CalMark covers are among the best, in a market that has very few truly quality covers. Made of Sunbrella fabric so it's light weight, breathes, but is water resistant. They are also a pleasure to work with; you give them the general silhouette and they send you a very clear template for filling in your dimensions, including special conditions and protrusions which you can discuss with them on the phone. They also reenforce across the top of the cover into the sides with bands of cordura nylon so that the weight of the sides don't wear out the top-to-side seems, which is the most vulnerable part of the cover. And yes… tennis balls or foam pipe insulation protect it from the sharp places ;-) I forgot to mention: a full 5 year warranty (not pro-rated).

Hi all,
Been searching for a quality cover. Came across CalMark; subsequently found this thread. Any update since May 2014 on your experience with this company? The custom covers are a little pricey, but they are now guaranteed for 6 years. Any comments before I pull the trigger?
Thanks in advance!

I just saw your post and am sending for a fabric sample. The one we have now is fine, but I don't expect it'll last more than another year. It doesn't breathe as well as I'd like and we found green mold. Growing on a few places on the skin when we uncovered it this spring. I didn't ask for a quote, but I suspect that for a ham-style Shasta Compact with wings, it'll run around $450, so if we start saving our pennies now, we ought to be able to buy one by the Eire the current one is kaput. I LOVE having special pockets for the wings!

It may sound weird but up here in Canada no one uses a cover. We don't the the sun damage and even though we get -40 degrees in the winter it does not seem to damage our trailers. Our cycle of freeze and thaw in the spring would be pretty damaging under a full cover. The worst we get on newer trailers is that the linoleum can crack if you go into your trailer in the winter.
