Hi everyone.
I had no intentions of joining a vintage trailer forum but after reading some conversations, I decided to give it a try. i love camping and I love old things. Anything. I was looking to purchase a better travel trailer than what I currently have and it was a tough task considering my small budget. It seems like trailer prices have jumped since last year by quite a bit. I was lucky enough ( at least I think so) to be the first to reach the previous owner of the trailer I just bought. I will be picking it up this weekend. When I first saw it, I knew I had to check it out in person. The guy I'm buying the trailer from says it's a 1972 but I think it's a bit older. He is still trying to find the registration for it but he has it. The trailer needs some work such as new wiring from the trailer to the truck, new battery cables and I need to check the furnace. I can get the pilot lit but it blows out. I'm sure there will be other minor issues along the way but I just couldn't turn my back on this beauty. The trailer is rock solid and no leaks. It was pouring rain when I looked at it today and I didn't see a drop of water inside. I pulled out the seating and checked all the corners. All the ceiling/wall panels are straight, no warps. No stains. It has a globe propane light (globe is broken) and I am not familiar with such a light. I guess I have some reading to do but finding information on this trailer is next to impossible. Sorry for the long winded intro, I'm still jazzed and get a bit chatty.
I live in Alberta, Canada and love to go camping in or around the Rockies

Wow .. Another golden falcon. There are now 4 of us Canadians with Glendale trailers. Three golden falcons, and mine is a 1966 Glendette. I have never seen trim before like around the back of your trailer I am curious as to if it is original or added later. We love to camp in the. Rockies too. We are planing a whirl wind trip next May for my 40th birthday.. Hopefully going to take in the 3rd annual rally for this group as part of it. Welcome to the forum.

ladywendolyn, if you mean the fiberglass trim on the corners, yes, that's original. The front of the trailer has the same trim. There is a bit of wear from age but the fiberglass is not cracked and still holds tight to the trailer. Furnace or no furnace, I am camping May long weekend with this. I'm hoping it's an easy fix. Previous owner never used it. Good to know there are some other Canadians here!

Welcome and what a beautiful trailer! Take a close up of the gas light; a Humphrey globe might work.

Thank vikx! I'll do that tomorrow. Do propane lights work in the same way as a lantern? I assume I need a mantle? I was trying to find answers online but only found glass globes. I may have to improvise. Thanks for the tip.

They are similar to lanterns, yes. A ceramic burner nose should be there. Buy a heavy duty mantle from VTS (Coleman's won't take the BTUs). You burn it in, then can light the lamp. Trouble is, the mantles often disintegrate going down the road... Be sure to measure the globe mount before ordering a globe.
Good luck on the parts hunt!

Very nice racerx! Welcome.
I also wonder about you exterior edge trim, but if it's kept the water out.... Your exterior finishes look to be in fantastic condition. All that gleaming wood.
I like the triangular tail lights! Are they original?
Would you be willing to take a close up of the support arms for the front rock shield? gfgirl asked me for some pics of mine, because she's missing the entire panel, but mine's missing the support arms. I'd love to see a close up of what the arms look like and how they attach.

Hello racex and welcome! Wow another Glendale, they definitely seem to be the trailer of choice for us Canadians. Yours is in fantastic shape. The interior , fittings finishes etc. are exactly the same as mine but in much better shape. Same flooring, counter tops, cupboards, hinges and pinch latches. My hardware is all rusted though and needs to be replaced. You've got the original light fixtures, where all mine have been removed. Definitely jealous of your kitchen set up! Also the large window in your door! Exterior does seem very similar, colour scheme, decals, window set up and style etc. only difference is the fibreglass trim. I wonder when they started doing that? As with a lot of made in Canada things it seems impossible to find out much info on the web about these trailers. I'm so glad to have found some other owners. Thanks for saying you would take photos of your rock guard, much appreciated. If I can help with any pics or info just ask. As for the age of your trailer, mine's a '69 so it's definitely after that, but I agree with you '79 seems a bit late. Not sure if yours still has the factory decal (located just under the power inlet on the street side) it tells you the length serial # etc. also where it was made. I believe the only factory was in Strathroy, a small town near London Ontario. Let us know how it goes with the furnace.

Thanks everyone for the advice and welcome. I had no idea vintage trailers of all types were so popular. I bought this one because it's in fairly good condition and she's very appealing to my eyes. It's snowing here right now. Can you believe that? I'll get out to the trailer today and take some exterior shots. I don't have the keys for her yet. I did see tags on the trailer but didn't pay close attention to it other than to note it was built in Dartmouth, NS. The tag is under the front window and there is one curb side (I think). Will double check to make sure it's not a dealer sticker. The triangle lights are original. Curb side light has damage but the previous owner put it back together with resin. Marker light covers are after market but down the road I may try to find original replacement covers.
