I've been looking and can't find a Hehr standard seal with THAT profile. All of the seals I see have a different profile. Do you have a link?
Thanks, Lee

Hi Lee, this is the link from Robert's shop: www.vintagetrailershop.com/windows-and-gaskets/112-hehr-standard-glass-seal.html I haven't tried it yet, that's a photo he sent me. I screwed my windows in temporarily without putty tape and didn't have an issue with them collapsing. We had to screw them in pretty tight too to get the windows around the curve. I wonder if we're talking about the same windows? The more experienced members may have more insight, but my understanding is that putty tape is pretty essential to keeping water from leaking through the windows, so I'm not sure you want to forego that.

We definitely have the same window. If you notice the frame under the screw is recessed about 1/4 inch from the actual back of the frame. Either something seems like it goes in that 1/4 inch channel to prevent the channel from collapsing when I screw it in or I'm doing something wrong.
Dummy me, I thought the GREY gasket was the new one.

That's interesting. I haven't had that problem. When I take my windows off I'll take some photos to see if there's something different about the back of my frames making them sturdier.
I'm not sure what the grey gasket is in that photo. But the black one is the one Robert sent samples of and has available now. They arrived the other day but I haven't had a chance to try them out.

The grey is the original side gasket. I had to remove my original ones because they were in very bad condition. I just got in the grey version of the black seal that Robert displayed.
What did you put between the frame and the trailer skin to keep a water tight seal?

But I plan on putting putty tape there, and I think that's pretty standard. I still haven't removed my windows to get you photos but hope to soon. Did you end up using the seal Robert sent? I haven't had a chance to test it yet. It's definitely bigger than what I had originally.

I used the seal that Robert sent and it seems to work out very well. I'm using a combination of the seal, butyl tape and vulkem 116. I've ony done one frame so far. My problem now is getting the glass out of the frame so I can replace the window glazing and clean the frames. I've broken 2 windows so far and am stopping until I can find a way to do this right. Although if the cost is more than 3 more windows then I'll just take my chances.

That's great! I tested the Hehr seal last night and it does seem like it will work. That's a bummer about the broken glass. I hadn't even considered that issue when it comes to replacing gaskets. What are you using for the window glazing? This is the closest thing I've found to what I have in my windows, but it doesn't look quite right. www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Hallmark-12-Glazing-Strip-p/vts-890.htm Then again I haven't gotten a good look at what I have yet. I've been afraid to take the glass out for fear of getting it back in. And now I'm afraid I'll break it too.

I ordered the following from Amazon: CRL Glazing Vinyl 9/32" Channel Depth 5/32" to 3/16" Metal Opening - 100' Roll by CR Laurence
It seems to be the correct dimensions. I tried it in the channel with a piece of broken glass and it looked ok.
My next step is to get the window frames sand-blasted then get the glass installed. Hopefully I'll have it done by the end of August. When I do I'll post a picture with the seal.

Sounds like you're doing your windows right though! I bet they'll look awesome when you're done

So here is the updated status. The gasket I purchased would not work. I broke all 6 windows trying to get them out of the frames. I brought the window frames and the gasket into a shop that does window installation for a living. They broke a bunch of glass trying to use the gasket material. They gave up and just used a professional sealant instead. The results look fantastic. All in all it cost me approx $600 for 6 new windows (glass cut and installed). Worth every penny IMHO. If they broke glass trying to get it installed I can only imagine what I would have done. My next step is to get a neoprene seal so there is no air/water leakage when the window frame is installed and the window is closed.

Wow, that stinks that all the windows were broken, but I'm glad it worked out in the end. I'd love to see some photos! Fwiw, this is the glazing seal that Robert at Vintage Trailer Shop is in the process of making. Though the possibility of breaking the glass makes me hesitant to replace this on my own.

One additional note about this window. You will have to dismantle the window to replace the glass and/or glazing. There is just no way to insert the glass and glazing without taking the window apart. Robert
