Okay, so I have a question. Right now cedar 1x2 and 1x3 are about half the cost of regular wood, I thought that was kind of strange, but can we use cedar in the trailer for some replacement pieces or will this effect the aluminum like pressure treated wood would?

Are you sure that wasn't the price per foot?

I don't think so unless Menards had their signs screwed up. The regular 1x2x10 were around $9 and 1x2x10 cedar was like $4 something.
I always thought cedar was more. Maybe they had them flipped, however the description matched up but maybe they had the prices wrong. I will be making a run there tomorrow so I will have to actually ask someone to do a price check.
If for some reason it is cheaper do you think it is safe to use?

As far as for use with cedar, the Western Red Cedar Association recommends use of 'corrosion-resistant' fasteners and materials - aluminum, stainless steel, hot-galvanized steel - with cedar, because of the corrosiveness of the wood. From a quick google search

I'm not sure, but on the flip side cedar is supposed to be more rot resistant

Cedar tends to split more easily than other woods. I haven't had the best luck with it. We tried it for the edging a while back, even kerfed it, but it cracked if put under stress.

I don't know how the rumor that cedar resists rot got going. If that's so why did I just pull and replace 6 cedar fence posts yesterday due to the bottoms that were buried being rotted out?
