Proud owner of a 1963 Yellowstone Travel Trailer (19'). It needs a lot of work but has potential. This is my first so I welcome any advice. Mine looks like the one in the ad. Yellowstone Ad

Welcome to the board. The best advice is to RUN as these old trailers can become addicting. Seriously that looks like a nice unit.

That looks like a beauty! Would love to see the interior.

Thanks, but the interior is just about gone. Pretty significant leaks at both roof vents and around window above door and right and left rear corners. Previous owner used for hunting and didn't have title so I have my work cut out for me there as well.

Oh, good luck with the title. You might want to take care of that before you put a lot of time or money into it.

Yeah, that's what I hear. I might have to register as a home-built.

What is inside and above the rear door? Just curious as to why the rear door is so short, compared to the front door. I have the same make door on my 1958 Mallard. I have seen these doors in both steel, and aluminum. VTS has the seals for the glass.

Just paneling. The previous owner screwed the door shut and had built a bunk bed in front of the door. I intend to make it functional again.

Nice trailer. Even if things look rotted and "bad", don't toss them too soon. I keep everything until the build is complete. You wouldn't believe how many times I've gone picking thru old parts to finish things...

I'm keeping all hardware, but there isn't a bit of wood that isn't water damaged somewhere. The previous owners patched and sealed from the inside only. I've already uncovered some OSB, particle board, linoleum, and three different thicknesses of plywood. I'm glad I didn't pay a lot.

Even the rotted, damaged stuff is sometimes helpful in remembering where something went or how far apart something was. I can't tell you how many pieced I've dug out of my pile to look at something I thought I would remember. And take pics as you go too. I took a bunch, but there's a couple I needed that I didn't take like my door threshold area. Luckily someone else had a pic.

Good tip SusieQ. I'm taking photos as I go. Another thing the previous owner did was to build 2x4 couch, table, and beds. The only thing original is the upper cabinets. The closet and kitchen cabinet was cut and drilled full of holes. I plan to rebuild and return to the original (or close to original) floor plan.

Welcome to VTT ny63!
Old panels are good for stencils for cutting new panels too. Enjoy the site. I hope you decide to do your own restore thread in the restorations section too!
