Just wondering what everyone else did for the aesthetics of their J and C channel rails...

The only reason to paint trims and/or windows, is because they are pitted "too bad" to polish, or the restorer took the "cheap and easy" way out. Same reason the inside of trailer's are painted.
New edge trims look even better polished before they are installed!
The factories would have never taken the "extra step" to paint them originally, they were all mill finish. Just this old guys opinion, LOL.

A couple of mine had painted rails from the factory, the 57 Corvette and a 63 B and B. Possibly special ordered that way.
We re-painted the Corvette rail and it didn't turn out as expected. The paint gets thin in certain areas, very difficult to cover the rail adequately.
I like bare aluminum rail. It accents the trailer nicely and makes for a finished look. Very doubtful we will every paint the rail again...

We painted the rails, but left all the eyebrows and window frames.

Mine obviously had painted rails from the factory. Not much of it left on them but they were painted. I've haven't decided what I'm going to do. My rails aren't in perfect shape but they're not bad. I don't really want to polish them, but then I don't like the idea of filling the screw heads and crevices with paint, either.

SusieQ, we do a mill finish on the J rail. It isn't shiny polished like the windows, but still makes for a nice accent.
