Cheri, your ideas and willingness to try are amazing. Take some time to slow down and do a little research before starting in.
The rafters will probably not "pry" loose without breaking. The way these trailers were made dictates the way you take them apart.
A new roof isn't impossible for one person. If you have a friend to help at times, that's all you'll need. Most of it can be done by yourself. These little trailers take some time, but you CAN DO THIS.

I was wondering about painting some kind of goop on the seams on the UNDERside of the roof while it is hoisted in the air off the trailer? My roof has never leaked but mobiltec got me concerned that just the jostling of removing the roof would possibly create a leak. Since I don't want to paint goop on the outside (it has never had goop on it), I thought "Why not on the inside"? Is there a reason NOT to do this?

I would suggest what Vikx suggested to me and that is an aluminum waterproof tape for the underside. Check at Home Depot or Amazon. Lowe's has a different brand but I can't vouch for it. Polyken/Nashua 361-11 Waterproofing Repair Tape is a tape with an aluminum foil backing/carrier which is coated on one side with a permanent butyl rubber adhesive

I don't think putting a strip of foil tape on the inside of the seam will hurt anything, it may not help, but it won't hurt. And it won't stick in your hair. The sticky part is covered with aluminum that is fairly thick. It's an easy, neat application.

As long as you don't kink or dent the seams it should be fine. But I do like the idea of the inside taping of the seams. I may do that on an Aljoa that's coming in. Just to help make sure.

The best waterproofing tape was Shurtape brand but has been discontinued. The Nashua above is nice and sticky and is fairly thin so doesn't interfere in tight areas. I like the idea of extra insurance.

I plan to "check my new roof for leaks", in SIXTY YEARS, 2074!
I think that having a reason to hang around, might keep me going for a while longer.

Yup, but it's "currently unavailable" and I believe Shurtape quit making it... Can't find it. Even the Shurtape site comes up with nothing with a search for "waterproofing repair tape". I'm wondering if the butyl mastic tape is a replacement?? I do like the Nashua, as I said, it is thin and doesn't add bulk...

Our Lowe's has it in there store! It may disappear once they sell it all. I used the Nashua, ordered it online from Amazon.
