What's a good pressure to put in the tires for a '63 Airflyte? Tires are 205/75 15s.
Thanks.

Tires are marked on the side for the pressure needed to carry the weight rating of that tire. You should always keep your trailer tires at the amount shown on the sidewall for best wear and the least amount of sway.

That's right.. take a look on the side of the tire, and I run mine tight. Trailer tires have a rating for a little extra pressure. (which it will have on the side) I told the tire man I was running about 1900#. I purchased a mid to upper range priced tire, deep tread pattern. But they still look a little "squished' out.. just a little. I think I run them at 45 psi with the max being about 50. Curb weight on our Loflyte is around 1700. I am strict about loading the thing up before a trip as well. I'd rather have the extra stuff (weight) on the truck axles. Not in the camper..WOMAN! (smile) Standard cars are at 36psi. I am sure there are some tire “in the know” people on here to chime in shortly though. But look on the side of the tire!! Good luck and happy traveling!

As far as pressure goes the ply rating controls how much pressure a tire can hold not the size. If you put less than the suggested amount that is on the side of the tire the amount of load it can carry drops off rapidly, in fact tires can run as much as 10% above the sidewall number. Also when buying tires you have to be sure your rims will handle the pressure that is required for the tire load rating. Also a tire running at a lower pressure than it states will flex more causing a build up of heat and tire failure. Your tire air pressure is critical to your safety. This is why newer vehicles have tire air pressure monitors built in.

Alone the same line that BigBill was discussing.
I would add that tire pressure is very critical if your running new white sidewall tires. The new constructed white side wall "modified" tires do not like extra flex and side wall heat from running under inflated. The new 205x15 white side wall tires that I recently purchased from Diamond Back, require 60 pounds of pressure to reduce the side wall flex. The tire determines the correct air pressure.
