Hi Friends! A few months back we started our search for the perfect vintage trailer. I really had my heart set on a Shasta, but the market here in Austin (and all of central Texas, really) is SUPER spicy, so we were having a really hard time with our search. Finally I committed what my husband calls "the ultimate craigslist sin", and posted a wanted ad. After receiving quite a few calls and emails from people who were interested in buying my campers (I had posted about 8 different photos of different campers as examples of what I wanted) a guy called and said he had the 1970 Tag A Long right outside of town. We went the next day to check it out, and it was just what we were looking for! He had taken down and rebuilt 3/4 of the inside, so it's not in original condition, but that's ok with me because it's not rotting either. The only part of the inside that is not rebuilt is the wall with the sink and stove on it. So we have a little work to do there. And we need to put doors on the cabinets, and add a lot of finishing touches. At some point we want to repaint the outside too. Glad to be here! Annie

Congrats! You found one that many folks out there are looking for: one with most of the "hard" work done. You've got a ways to go, but you're going to have a little jewel "tagging along" behind you. It's nice to see a 1970 still having the rounded look of the previous decade. Sometimes we feel as though Shasta gave it up too soon. Enjoy the project and the results!

Glad you found one that makes you happy how it is finish out is entirely up to you and your needs. If we all did exactly the same thing this would be a boring board.

Hi, I too just obtained a 1970 Go Tag-A-Long camper, Identical as your, I have already started removing the white paneling of the rear, doorside wall and ceiling, have not yet touched were the stove and sink is, it has a few pieces of dryrot wood that I need to replace, based on your pics I see that the kitchen drawer and door was a stock Item, I thought it was home made, but mine is identical to yours... I would love to get Ideas on the floor layout you will be doing cause I have no clue on what to do, I have been looking at a few You-tube videos for Ideas but am still at a loss on what and how to do it.... looking forward on seeing your progress...

oh by the way, the two small windows in the back are there cause a foldout bed goes there, must be for a child cause it was too close to the ceiling, I took that out and am plannin on doing what yours has, (storage cabinets there)

Oh wow stargatepa1, that's so cool that you just got one too! I'd love to see pics of yours so we can compare. And to keep up with your progress in restoration/remodel.
From the small amount that we've found on the internet the Go Tag-A-Longs really didn't change too much, if at all, over the decade or so that they were produced. Which is cool, because it means that the 1960 and 1970 models look almost identical, hence the nice rounded look that we all love so much. There is a Go Tag-A-Long forum, but it's not very active at all. There are just so few of them out there that the forum hardly has any members. It does have some interesting historical information about the Go Tag-A-Long company though, which makes it worth it to join. Somewhere on that forum we even found a copy of the original manual that came with them. Lots of strange and interesting stuff in there for sure. Not too much technical stuff, but there is a big blurb about a special, idyllic camp ground just for Go Tag-A-Long owners... really kinda far out.
