if there is another site or sub forum specifically for Shasta Class C mini-motor homes if so I'd appreciate it If someone can point me in the correct direction.
I just acquired (yesterday) a '76 version based on the Dodge 9000GVW Dually Van chassis with 70K miles on it. It needs a lot of TLC and I'm looking for direction/information. I need to work on the running gear but I have help for that. I still have not even figured out which engine it has yet.
BUT . . . . . All the cushions are covered with dry rotted cloth. So I'll need to find a source for replacements. The good side to this is that I live about an hour away for Elkhart County. I have not checked to water system but I imagine there will need to be line replacement at a minimum.
I used a pair of standard BBQ grill propane bottles with my previous old tow-along camper but this has a bottle/tank bolted to the frame. are they still good, can they be refilled, or will this be a mandatory replacement item?
As to be expected after setting almost abandoned for the past 4 years in the lake effect snow belt of SW MI; the roof has had leaks, ceiling stain along the outer edges. there is evidence of major leaks in the "bathroom" (I suspect leakage around the roof mounted air conditioner).
There is some outer skin damage above the rear bumper in the center that looks like someone was trying to back u to hook up a trailer and got pranged by the tongue of the trailer----so skin repairs are in order.
It appears that maybe the front over-the van-cab overhang has sagged a little and the sides of the ffront corner seams have opened up a little in the past and have been "caulked" in a very ugly fashion.
and thats for starters. any tips, pointers, references or suggestions most appreciated.

Welcome DWS! You are welcome to post about the "camper" part of your motorhome right here. Many are able to help you with systems and rebuilding. It was decided to limit motor and drive train discussion because there are many forums that address that sort of thing. A good forum for motor homes is rv.net. They discuss a little of everything there. www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/26650452/gotomsg/26661556.cfm

Thank you, Restricting discussion to the camper "coachwork" makes a lot of sense. ANY advice will be very valuable I am sure. I will check out the link you offered.

There are a few "motorheads" on here that would probably gladly help with the drivetrain end of your unit, as well as a few "tin-can-heads" as well, to help with the camper end...
First thing to remember about the camper end is that regardless of the type, trailer or motor-home, a lot of the construction was the same on the older ones. Some of your problems and questions may well have been addressed before and information readily available. That goes along with the folks that are glad to help point you to answers you may need! Welcome aboard!
